这是格林童话里最欢乐、也最'暖心'的故事之一。有趣的是，四只动物一心要去不来梅当乐手，却从头到尾根本没走到不来梅——它们在半路的强盗屋里找到了新家，就再没挪窝。可不来梅这座城市反倒把它们认作了自己人：今天在德国不来梅市中心，立着一座著名的青铜雕像（1953 年由雕塑家马尔克斯创作），正是驴、狗、猫、公鸡叠成一摞的样子；据说游客只要摸一摸驴子的两条前腿，就能交上好运。这个故事真正打动人的地方在于：四只动物都因为'老了、没用了'而被主人抛弃，甚至要被杀掉——但它们没有认命，而是聚在一起，用一场荒腔走板的'合唱'吓跑了强盗，为自己挣来了安身之所。读的时候可以和孩子聊聊：一只驴、一只狗、一只猫、一只公鸡，单打独斗谁也赢不了强盗，为什么合在一起就行了？
